Who is a candidate for implant supported dentures?

Before we start off the article, it is important to know what are implant supported dentures and, as the name implies, they are an oral appliance tooth replacement option that uses implants – typically made up of titanium – which are surgically fixed in a patient’s jaw bone and the dentures rest on the implants as opposed to the gums. There are two types of these dentures present with one being removable and the other being fixed.

Implant supported dentures are readily available at Razavi Dental clinic at an affordable price, and we will discuss who is a proper candidate for implant supported dentures!

What are the indications for implant-supported dentures?

  • Loss of most or all natural teeth.
  • Sufficient budget for treatment.
  • Adequate jawbone density for implant placement.
  • Seeking durable and long-lasting denture solutions.

How long does it take to get implant-supported dentures?

There are two timeframes that one needs to remember when getting implant supported dentures, and that is before and after implant placement. There will be two visits before the placement of the implants, where a dental impression will be taken first to make the dentures. If there are any damaged or decayed teeth present, extraction will be done before taking an impression, and it will take one month to heal the gums.

In case your bone density is not sufficient either, then bone grafting may be done as well, in which the healing process can take from 2 weeks to 3 months.

Once the pre-requisites have been done and implants have been placed, which can take from 20 mins to 2 hours depending on the number of implants placed in the mouth, implant must be properly healed to fuse with the bone in a process called ‘osteointegrataion’. This healing process can take upto 6 months where the implant becomes a part of your jawbone after which the denture becomes ready to use, whether it is removable or fixed. So if you are looking to get an implant supported denture, then why not stop over at Razavi Dental Clinic?
