Experience

Dr. Pouya Hatam established Blue Bell Periodontics as a modern, state-of-the-art facility specializing in periodontal and implant surgery. She brings extensive experience in Implantology and Periodontology and has served as surgical faculty in the Department of Periodontics at the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine. Additionally, Dr. Hatam has practiced Periodontics across various general dental practices and multi-specialty offices, including the faculty practices at the University of Pennsylvania.

Education in Dental Medicine

Dr. Hatam earned her dental degree, Dr. med. dent, from Justus Liebig University in Giessen, Germany, where she began her career as a teaching instructor in the Department of Periodontology. In pursuit of further specialization, Dr. Hatam joined the University of Pennsylvania in 1993 to study under leading clinicians and researchers. She received her DMD in 1995 after completing the Program for Advanced Standing Students at the University of Pennsylvania’s School of Dental Medicine. She then continued her education in the Department of Periodontics, earning her Certificate in Periodontics in May 1998.

Teaching and Awards in Dental Medicine

Dr. Hatam served as a faculty member at the University of Pennsylvania from 1995 to 2007 in the undergraduate Periodontics Department and has been part of the graduate program since July 2014. She served as the Clinical Director of Undergraduate Periodontics from 1999 to 2002. Dr. Hatam’s commitment to excellence in dental education has earned her numerous prestigious awards, including the Joseph Appelton Teaching Award and the Outstanding Teacher Award from the School of Dental Medicine.
